Northridge, CA: Celebrate the holidays with a genuine Irish Christmas starring "The Three Irish Tenors, Christmas from Dublin" at California State University, Northridge Plaza del Sol Performance Hall (formerly The Performing Arts Center), on Friday, December 1, at 8:00 p.m. Tickets for this holiday showcase, which also features The Three Irish Divas and a live Irish seven piece orchestra with dueling Celtic fiddlers, are $20-$45.
Joining "The Three Irish Tenors" are a host of Irish dancers and musicians. Filled with songs of the season such as "Come Home to Ireland for Christmas," "Christmas in Killarney," “The Little Drummer Boy,” “Adeste Fideles,” "The Auld Christmas Dinner," "Join Hands," "One Little Candle, "O Holy Night, "Silent Night,” "Away in a Manger," “Savior’s Day,” and “O Holy Night.” Christmas from Dublin is full of the wit, charm, music and dance direct from the Emerald Isle.
The Three Irish Tenors are Ciaran Nagle from Riverdance The Show, Anthony Norton from La Scala Milan and Brian Dunphy from Riverdance The Show. Joining The Three Irish Tenors will be an ensemble of musicians as well as special guests The Three Irish Divas: Jacqueline Whelan, Danna Davis and Ellen McElroy.
Tom Cregan studied singing at the College of Music in Dublin and the London College of Music. He has worked extensively as a soloist in Ireland, performing in opera, oratorio and has given many solo recitals. He appeared as a principal singer with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, for seven years, singing solo roles in Fidelio and Death in Venice. Following this, he sang solo parts in Mozart's Belmonte with Court Opera, Vecchi's L'amfiparnasso on a British, European and American tour; Salome with Folkopera at the Edinburgh Festival; and Carmen with Co-Opera. Since his return to Ireland, he has worked as a principal singer for Opera Ireland, Co-Opera, RTE and the Opera Theatre Company. He currently sings with the National Chamber Choir.
Ciaran Nagle's love of music started during his school days. He trained at the College of Music in Dublin. For three years, he sang with the National Chamber Choir, Ireland's only professional choir. He has performed many tenor roles, including Guiseppe in La Traviata with Lyric Opera Company and El Remendada in Carmen at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. He has also sung with Opera Ireland in their productions of La Cenerentole, Faust, Tosca, The Magic Flute, Macbeth and Falstaff. In 1999, he performed in Creation and the Seasons at New York's Carnegie Hall. In addition to his roles in opera, he has performed many roles in musicals, including Ralph in HMS Pinafore and Cascade in The Merry Widow.
Anthony Norton started his training in the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He then moved to London where he studied piano, voice and conducting at Trinity College. He started his operatic career as a chorister with Scottish Opera and progressed to a principal singer role with them. He moved to Italy where he became a member of the world-famous La Scala Opera Company, making his debut in Weber's Oberon. Norton sang principle roles with them for five years. Since his return to Ireland, he has worked with Opera Ireland, the Wexford Festival of Opera, the Opera Theatre Company and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.
